MECHANIC  - The Borough of Edgewater seeks a full-time experienced mechanic for both gas and diesel maintenance, repair, and servicing of various types of light duty equipment, motor vehicles, trucks, heavy duty trucks, construction equipment, street sweepers, police cars, fire apparatus, and ambulances in order to diagnose and repair engines, on-board computer components, electrical systems, HVAC systems, brake systems, transmissions, and tires.  Candidate must be able to read and use technical manuals, specifications, diagrams, schematics, and similar guides to diagnose and make repairs.  Looking for a preferred minimum of five (5) years mechanic experience along with A-1 through A-7 Automotive Service Excellence certifications and formal automotive accredited vocational or community college training, and a Class B Commercial Driver’s License with air brake endorsement.  Must be willing to take direction and perform a variety of tasks such as manual labor as assigned by the Superintendent of Public Works, must have knowledge and experience working with various tools and equipment such as hand tools, air tools, tire machines, brake lathes, grinders, electronic scanners, welding and cutting tools.  Work in all kinds of weather, on-call and available as overtime for emergencies such as snow and rain events.  Starting salary is $55,000 which is advanced tier of the bargaining unit agreement based on knowledge, skills, and abilities, contributory health benefits with accrued sick and vacation time. ZONING OFFICER - PART-TIME – EDGEWATER BOROUGH, BERGEN COUNTY – The Borough of Edgewater seeks part-time (19 hours/week) candidates for the position of Zoning Officer.  Responsibilities of the position include experience in administering and enforcing local zoning laws, ordinances, rules and regulations, the ability to examine plans including UCC permit applications, review Planning Board and Board of Adjustment applications with ability to prepare reports containing findings, conclusions and recommendations. Position includes both office and field work with strong interpersonal skills to communicate with staff and the public.  The position will enforce local Borough Ordinances, issue notices/violations, appear in municipal court, and planning and zoning board meetings as needed.  The position is $25-$35/hour DOE/DOQ, a New Jersey Zoning Official Certification is preferred along with five (5) years’ experience.  All interested candidates must email a cover letter and resume to Gregory Franz, Borough Administrator, at gfranz@edgewaternj.org by Monday, December 29, no phone calls will be accepted, EOE.
