This Executive Order aims to ensure voters preserve their constitutional right to vote while upholding the priority of public health during the COVID-19 public health emergency.

Specific changes included in Executive Order No. 177 are as follows:

All active, registered voters will receive a vote-by-mail ballot without the need to fill out an application.

Ballots will be mailed to voters by Monday, October 5, 2020.

Voters will have several options to choose from when deciding how to return their completed ballot:

Option 1: Mail your completed ballot to the Bergen County Board of Elections with the postage-paid envelope provided with your ballot.

Option 2: Drop your completed ballot in one of the Secure Ballot Drop Boxes located throughout Bergen County. The closest drop boxes are in Fort Lee – 1355 Inwood Terrace – The Fort Lee Community Center, and Ridgefield – 725 Slocum Avenue – The Ridgefield Community Center.

Option 3: Return your completed ballot to your assigned polling place on Election Day, you will be required to wait online and sign the voter registration book when dropping off your ballot. Please note you will only be allowed to drop off your own ballot.

There will be limited polling locations for in-person voting on Election Day. Voters who do not complete their vote-by-mail ballot but instead wish to vote in-person will be provided a paper provisional ballot. ADA accessible voting machines will be available for disabled voters only.
