The Edgewater Cultural & Historical Committee Meets:

The second Thursday of each month at the Community Center, Room 127, at 7pm unless otherwise specified.

Who we are:

We are a committee of civic minded residents who are appointed by the Mayor and Council.

Mission Statement:

Edgewater's historic properties and the environment in which they exist are irreplaceable assets that contribute to the quality of life that Edgewater's residents enjoy and expect. The members of the Cultural & Historical Committee will endeavor to preserve Edgewater's unique qualities. The committee will seek to identify, evaluate, and protect historical and archaeological resources so that they may continue playing an integral and vibrant role in our community. Fundraising efforts are held to support the efforts of the committee.

What we do:

Plan and organize an Annual Ford Assembly Plant Vintage Auto Show concurrent with the Edgewater Arts Festival.

Promote cultural education by providing an enriching program relating to local history at the Eleanor Van Gelder School.

Publish a new monthly listing in the Edgewater Residential called, “Back in Time” citing events of historical nature.  The same listing is also displayed monthly at the post office.

Conduct a Wine Tasting event at a local restaurant to raise funds for promoting the educational aspects as well as the preservation of culture and history in the town.

Collect historical artifacts of the town that will be displayed at the future Edgewater Cultural and Historical Museum.

Open to opportunities to carry on the history of the town.
