Emergency Management Resources

In Case of Emergency
In case of a disaster, the Chief of Police is also the Deputy Emergency Management Coordinator for the Borough.

During an emergency, the Chief working with the Emergency Management Coordinator, Robert Christianson, is available to provide guidelines and coordinate with the County, State, Federal or neighboring states to provide leadership in an emergency.

Emergency Management Plan

Among other things, he maintains the comprehensive Borough Emergency Management Plan. This plan is always current on changes in policies, personnel, equipment, contact lists and procedures that serve during emergency situations.

There are 2 other important resources for Edgewater during an emergency: the Bergen County Office of Emergency Management and the Bergen / Hudson County Red Cross.

Bergen County Office of Emergency Management
The Bergen County Office of Emergency Management website has information about weather emergencies, family preparedness, animal emergencies, and helpful links to county and state emergency management resources.

Red Cross
At the Red Cross website, families can work on preparedness by signing up for a First Aid-CPR class, ordering helpful brochures, obtaining a Disaster Supplies Kit or developing a Disaster Plan. Volunteer and training opportunities, as well as youth services and blood donations are also handled at the Red Cross.
