1. What time should garbage be placed curbside?: Garbage should be placed curbside on Sunday night, Tuesday night and Thursday night after 8 p.m.

Garbage should not be left out over weekends or put out anytime before the permissible day and time.

2. What time should garbage receptacles be removed from curbside?: Receptacles should be removed from curbside in the morning after garbage is picked up. It should not stay at the curbside all day or until nighttime.

3. Can I place my garbage in plastic or paper bags?: No. Garbage must be placed in plastic or metal covered receptacles.

4. Can I place furniture, household appliances such as dishwashers, air conditioners, refrigerators, etc. out at curbside with the rest of my garbage for regular pick-up?: Furniture or other debris must never be placed at curbside on Fridays or Saturday nights when it will be left out over the weekend. The evening before a regularly scheduled pick-up after 8 p.m. is permissible.

Appliances such as dishwashers, air conditioners, refrigerators, etc. are picked up on Fridays only. Please do not leave any household appliances at curbside without alerting the Recycling Department at 201-943-7363.

5. Can you please remind me of days the recycling goes out?: The town is divided into the north and south sides, bisected by Route 5. Recycling pick-up alternates weekly between north and south. If you didn’t receive a calendar at the beginning of the year, please call the Recycling Department and a calendar will be sent to you or view the Calendar or APP online HERE

6. What time should recycling go out?: Recycling should be put out no later than 7:30 a.m. the morning of pick-up. Please do not use paper or plastic bags.

7. Where can I put my leaves after I rake?: Leaves should be left at the curbside. Please do not put them in plastic or paper bags. Leaves will be picked up regularly from sometime in October until the middle of December. For exact dates in the fall, please check the borough calendar or call DPW @ 201-943-1700 Ext. 5000
